On a hot day in Garfield Park, Mentor, where the South tennis team had a jumbled lineup, the contest came down to a sophomore (Zach Barrus) and a freshman (Francis Tran) on court 5.
Jacob Miozzi won his 12th match of the year, while Elliot Yoon and Ian Grzincic teamed up for a straight sets doubles win, but a team victory hung in the balance as Barrus and Tran started their 3rd set. The duo were playing with unfamiliar partners and a lot of wind, but emerged victorious after two hours of competitive tennis with a talented Mentor team.
The team heads into its fourth week of the season with an 8-4 record, one less victory that all of last year when the team went 9-8.
